R. Iran-New Delhi, Dr. Akhtarulwasey, VC, University of Jodhpur, Mr. Shahid Mehdi, Ex. V.C., J.M.I., Dr. Maaref, VC, Faculty of Theology, Tehran University, Maulna Dr. Kalb Sadiq, Maulana Kalbe Javad, Dr. Tauqir Alam, Dr. Saud Alam Qasemi, Dr. Qidawi, Dr. Ali Mohammad Nagavi and many others. More than 60 articles have been submitted to this International Seminar, in which 30 papers will be submitted within 3 days and other papers of the seminar will be published.

The innaugral took place with the recitation of Quranic Verses by Dr. Ali Mohammad Naqavi who later announced the objectives of the seminar and briefed about the process of the seminar. He said that this year is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the AMU, Aligarh, and we are pleased that the seminar "Reason and Religion: Ways to Defeat Extremism" was held in cooperation with the Iran Culture House, New Delhi.

He also mentioned about the role & impact of Iran and Iranians in modern theology in India, adding that theology in India has been influenced by Iran.

Dr. Ali Dehgahi started his speech by extending his tribute to Sir Sayed & AMUs valuable contribution for education in this continent and said "The University of Aligarh is one of the most important universities in India, its scholars had great impact not only in India, but also in the socio-cultural upheavals around the world,"

On the above mentioned topic Dr. Dehgahi told: Sadrol-Motahheleen has placed theology and the teachings of religion on the forefront of philosophy. This school has already had an impact on Islamic thought in Iran, and is still an unparalleled and sustainable alternative. He added about the Shahid Mutahhari that the great thinker (Late) Shahid Mortaza Motahhari, grew up in the school of transcendental wisdom, and cultivated his philosophical and theological thinking. From this perspective, he is a legacy of the intellectual tradition and branch of the long-standing religious thought. He is well fully aware that man in the new world has achieved new scientific and philosophical achievements and is familiar with the new horizons and new questions in the dialogues of religion and philosophy.

At the end he spoke regarding the ways of resistance to extremism and said: The fact is that extremism is also a way of thinking; obviously, any though even ill, deviant, and false, will not be eliminated by force and pressure. Essentially, if we are to resort to violence to fight extremism, we have shaped the endless cycle of violence. Of course, this does not mean defending against the extremist threat, but if the fundamentals of intellectual isolation do not reinforce this kind of thinking in society, external pressure and violence not only will reduce the power of sectarian thinking, but, the sectarian structure is regulated in a way that whenever external pressure increased they become more hardliner. Therefore, we must look for soft solutions before we think of harsh strategies. In extremism, they have a mindset. So, to deal with it, you need to take a mentality as to oppose the extremism.

Dr. Maaref, said: "One of the core characteristics of human being is his ability to practice with reason. The wisdom is the tool of all kind of grasping & recognition of mankind. He added that the world where Allah, the creator is highest authority, and then the recognition of the components of the universe and even the wisdom of man is one of the most amazing creatures of the world, but practical reason is a force that by specifying the moral system of human virtues and vices it prevents us from committing immoral acts. This is thing which Imam Jafar Sadiq (as), also said in his narration: "it is wisdom through which we worship Allah" (Kolaini 1/11)

Dr. Tariq Mansour, VC, AMU, firstly thanked the Iran Culture House, New Delhi for participating in this seminar and added that the cultural relationship between Iran and India back to thousands of years and two nations of Iran and India from the past to the present day had been good friends of each other.

On the other end, The book "Islamic Movements during last century" by Shahid Motahari, translated into Urdu and published by the Iranian Culture House, Delhi, and the book "Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Founder of Modern Theology," published by the Department of Shia Theology, AMU, were released.
