Interfaith Centre of Aligarh Muslim University and M.U. College Aligarh in collaboration with Centre for Inter religious and inter cultural Dialogue Iran and Iran Culture House, New Delhi have organized a webinar on Indo-Iran Interfaith Dialogue on 6th March 2021in which Hojjatul Islam Mohammad Mahdi Taskhiri the Head of the Centre Interfaith Dialogue and Islamic Culture and communication organization, Iran gave inaugural address. The keynote address was given by Prof S. R. Bhatt former Chairman Indian Council of Philosophical Research and presently President, IPC delivered keynote address; Dr. Mohammad Ali Rabbani Cultural Counsellor I.R. Iran gave presidential Address.

His Holiness Swami Shantanandji President Ram Krishna mission and eminent Spiritual and Hindu Faith Leader, His Holiness Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni Eminent Jain Faith Leaders, Founder President, Ahimsa Vishva Bharti and Archbishop Sebouh Sarkisian Bishop of the Armenian Church, Iran, Distinguished Christian Faith Leader who expressed their valuable views.

In the plenary session Mr. Moosa Raza Former Secretary ministry of Steel and Mines Academics and is an eminent Indian Muslim Intellectual and Chairman, South Indian Educational Trust, S. Salman Chishti Gaddinashin, Dargahe Ajmer Shareef, Chairman, Chishty Foundation, Ajmer Shareef , Shri Hari Prasadji President Vishnu foundation Chennai, Dr. Baqir Talibi Daraj from the University of Religions and Faiths, Qom, Swami Virupaaksh ji from the Art of Living Foundation, Dr. Rasool Rasoolipur from the Department of Philosophy , Khwarizmi University Iran, Prof. Abhay Singh Director, Swami Vivekananda India Culture Centre, Tehran, Dr. Alizadeh Mossavi University of Religions and Faiths, Qom and Mr. S. Tarlochan Singh , IAS Former Member of Parliament of India and Chairman, of National Minority Commission were the other important scholars and literary figures who expressed their valuable views.

The webinar was started by the recitation of Quran by Qari Abdul Moin.

1.   Prof. A.M. Naqvi Director Interfaith Centre in his welcome address welcome distinguished spiritual leaders and dignitaries. In his remarks he highlighted about the importance of Interfaith Dialogue and about spiritual and unity in diversity which has united India and Iran. He also highlighted about wahdate wajud, monotheism, concept of Rigveda and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, non-violence, Tauheed, Concept of Devine Attributes, Lutfe a Ilahi and justice for all. He emphasized on the importance of peaceful co-existence and respects for all religion.

2.   Hujjatul Islam Mohammad Mahdi Taskhiri in his inaugural address welcomes the initiatives of Aligarh Muslim University and Iran Culture House for organizing webinar on such significant topic. He said that religion is a voice of human culture to discover human essence. He also said that unfortunately extremism is imposed in the name of religion. The goal of all religion is to guide humanity and to deviate them. Today hue and cry are made for better life but unfortunately it is worst. Instead of Dialogue, weapons of mass destruction are imposed. Today in Iran through dialogue misunderstanding has bee removed and people of different interfaith are living in peace. I hope these meeting will serve in establishing human salvation.

3.   Swami Shantamandji in his deliverance said all religion"s objective is the realization of God. There is a tremendous need of harmony and peace which can be done through dialogue. All religions are for unity and we should recognize each religion. He further said that all religions are complementary and not contradictory.

4.   Prof. S.R. Bhat in his keynote address said that religions are the manifestations of human consciousness. Religion has played a very significant role in human transformation. There is an urged need to differentiate between sectarianism and religion. There should not be misuse of religion and it has to be thwarted. The role of all religious leaders is to stop disharmony, disunity and create the atmosphere of love, virtues, harmony and mutual understanding. He said orthodoxy and fundamentals is anti religions and is against the basic tents of every religion. This type of dialogue should be often and mentioned about the participation of masses. He also highlighted about India 2020 National Education policy which emphasizes the importance of comparative study of religions.

5.   Dr. Lokesh Moni emphasized on the importance of Dialogue and congratulated the organizer for this webinar. He said today world needs genuine dialogue. By dialogue we can make world beautiful. Religion bind and not divides us. There is no place of hatred, disunity and fear and violence in religion. We should try to preserve unity in diversity. Today our duty is to connect religion with positivity. Universal brotherhood and forgiveness is the real religion.

6.   Archbishop Sebouh Sarkisian in his speech said Dialogue is a fruitful mean for working together. Iranians and Indians belong to rich and valuable civilization and are the cradle of religion. He mentioned about the sermons of Hazrat Ali (AS) by saying that we all are brothers in creation and children of God. He emphasized on the importance of Genuine Dialogue which is the need of the globalization. Today humanity is suffering from the injustice, poverty, immorality and discrimination. We have to explore with other religion for peaceful coexistence. He referred about the peaceful coexistence of religions in Iran.

7.   Dr. Mohammad Ali Rabbani in his presidential address mentioned about the importance and concept of Dialogue. He said all religions teach wisdom and learning. In views of religious and cultural diversity in India as well as intellectuals and philosophical back ground of Iranian Islamic culture and civilization the subject of religious is one of the important points in the cultural relation between India and Iran. He mentioned about 2 inter religious conferences which Iran Culture House has organized in collaboration with Indian Council for Philosophical research of India. He said that interfaith Dialogue is an attempt to find common ground between religions. The goal of interfaith dialogue especially in Islam is to sympathize with other religions based on common principal and values. He concluded is address with the couplet of Sa"adi Shirazi whose line graces the entrance to the hall of UNO.

In the plenary session the first speaker was:

8.   Mr. Moosa Reza who said that all religions teaches peace. He delivered the couplet of Omar Khayyam and Maulana Rumi and the teachings of Holy Quran. He said that we have to accept that all religions are on right path and have dignity of its own. I thank the organizer for today webinar.

9.   Shri Hari Prasad Swamiji said all paths leads to same goal in religions. Do not discriminate people on like and dislike.

10.                Syed Salman Chishti - He highlighted about the historical and spiritual ties between India and Iran and said there is a deep spiritual and cultural understanding between the two countries. He also said about the importance of the Persian Language which played and significant role in this understating"s. He mentioned about saying of Hazrat Ali (A.S) that "when world presses to our knees pray to Allah". We have to shell all false narratives.

11.                Dr. Baqir Talibi Darai: He conveyed deep appreciation to the organizer. He emphasized upon sociological and critical analysis of inter religious dialogue. Dialogue is an ethical based system. Ethical rationality is important while entering dialogue. It should lead to morality. We should go above religion.

12.                Swami Virupaaksh said beautiful to see diversity in strength in today webinar. He mentioned about concept of faith in Indian philosophy. He also said generation of two important culture i.e. India and Iran should be made enlightened about it. Imbibing appreciation of other culture will help us form tolerance to acceptance.

13.                Dr. Rasool Rasoolipur said during late Ayatollah Imam Khomeini (RA) and present spiritual leader Ayatollah Imam Khamenei the activities of interfaith dialogue has been increased. He emphasized upon peaceful coexistence with each others.

India is the best place for peaceful coexistence. He also mentioned about chapter two and verse 64 of Holy Quran. He also mentioned about the meeting of Ayatollah Sistani with Pope who are exchanging views on human sufferings in the world. It is the need of hour to connect more with the religious and intellectual"s scholar of different religion and faith.

Prof. Abhay Singh mentioned about Swami Vivekananda view of Vedanta. He further said that the essence is the unity in God in all religions. He said Islam also expresses the same truth. Concept of monism in one God. He further said that Swami Vivekananda praised social equality in Islam and advised Hindus and Christian to eradiate social disparities taking lessons from Islam.

Dr. Alireza Moosavi said we should go through tolerance and acceptance. There should be freedom to exchange views. He appreciated Indian society. There should be critical dialogue.

Mr. Tarlochan Singh said Punjab is Persian word and Islam came in Punjab from Sufism and they came from Iran Do not sell religion. He praised Iran for the establishment a number of Gurudwara at it soil. He also expressed views about Gurunanak concept of dialogue. We can embrace each other. He thanks the organizer for day"s most relevant webinar.
