Nowruz Festival in Iran Culture House, New Delhi

On the occasion of the New Year, 1400 (SH) and Nowruz, the thisCultural Festival was organized in the presence of Indian political and cultural officials, foreign diplomats living in Delhi, Indian Parsis, Iranian residents and families members of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister of Minorities Affairs, Govt. of India, two Members of Parliament, Dr. Ali Ghegini, Honorable ambassador of I.R. Iran to India, other ambassadors, diplomats and Officers affiliates to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Qatar, Lebanon, Australia, Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, President of the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts, V.C(s), Professors, Religious Leader such as Maulana Yahya Bukhari were present. There was food festival also with the participation of Iranian families and some other countries as well as Photo exhibition of Nowruz traditions in Iran including other countries celebrating Nowruz. Besides this, there was especial arrangements for music performance in Persian by Johar Ali Khan group of Indian musicians, along with Nowruz poetry and calligraphy competition.

In this festival, Dr. Chegini, the Ambassador of Iran to India, in  his speech, called Nowruz as a symbol of love, peace and friendship between human beings and nationswhich is inspired by human and Islamic values. He described the presence of the Minister of Minority Affairs Govt of India and other government officials in the event as a sign of the importance of Nowruz in the relations between the two countries and expressed hope that such occasions could further enhance the cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Minister of Minority affairs, called Nowruz a bridge between ethnic groups and nations, especially Iran and India. He reminded that Nowruz is also known as an ancient tradition in India and Nowruz ceremonies are held in different parts of India. He added that Rituals are a sign of solidarity and understanding between the different nations. He acknowledged that Indian society uses every opportunity to promote peace and friendship, even by sending vaccines to various countries.

Mr. Moghari from Embassy of I. R. Iran, New Delhi has conducted the program while H.E. Ambassador of Iran to India and Dr. Ali Rabbani the Cultural Counselor gave certificates to the participants of Iranian food festival.

In addition to music performed by Johar Ali Khan, the poems of Rumi, Hafez, Iqbal and Imam Khomeini (R.A) and poems by the contemporary poet Dr. Qazveh were presented in Persian; Clips in the introduction of Nowruz and the performance of Iranian music were also shown. The performance of the speech in introducing the traditions of Nowruz, awarding prizes to the winners of the food festival was another part of this program. In the continuation of the program, Mr. Mokhtar Abbas, Minister of Minorities Affairs and a number of other personalities participating in the ceremony visited the Nowruz photo exhibition. The ceremony was widely covered in newspapers and some Indian TV channels.

It is worth-mentioned that in the continuation of Nowruz Cultural Festival, the program of announcing the results of Nowruz calligraphy and poetry competitions will be held soon. Nowruz virtual exhibition will be held for a week.
