Cultural Dialogue between Islam & Christianity

During the Joint Meeting of father Joseph Victor Edwin with the Representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran in India and Cultural Counselor of the I. R. of Iran, New Delhi

Agha Mahdavipour reminded his Christian dialogue partners of Pope Francis"s historic meeting with the Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani during his historic visit to Najaf a few months before. He pointed out that the meeting between the Pope and the Grand Ayatollah teaches us that we must cultivate mutual respect and enter into dialogue with prudence.

Dr Ali Rabbani said. "We must find common grounds". He emphasized. "Islam & Christianity must seek to sustain and develop dialogue and conversation between these two traditions.

Fr Victor presented his volume on A New Spirit in Christian-Muslim Relations in India: Three Jesuit Pioneers to the Iranian dignitaries.

Dr. Rabbani said that office of the Cultural Counselor is ready to cooperate through workshop and educational courses in the field of comparative studies of religions, the exchange of professors and students in Iranian universities, as well as the launch of Persian language courses at Vidiajiyoti College of Theology, Delhi. It was decided that the annual joint cooperation program will be presented by the parties and after reviewing and agreeing on its executive areas and joint cooperation, it will go for further practical steps.
